Chapter 6

Elijah

Hell, I was in a parody of hell. That had to be it. Facing my Aerophobia and getting hit on by this happy demon as he verbally sparred with me equivalent to ‘I’m not touching you’ while hovering his finger an inch from my face. Was it an exaggeration, sure, but I was too tired to psychoanalyze how Nyx was making me feel. He couldn’t even let me thank him without trying to provoke me. His hand job comment was a cruel temptation that made my weary mind flare to life.

I was straight. That had never been a question in my mind before today. But Lord knows my mind went from zero to sixty fantasizing about Nyx sliding the zipper of my pants down and reaching in to slowly jerk my cock. I believed he would be bold enough to do it too. It would have been hotter than hell and I sure wouldn’t have been thinking about the plane breaking up into pieces midair. It wasn’t the idea of a mile high handjob or the possibility of getting caught that turned me on. It was the thought of Nyx stroking me with a confident grin and the intensity of his green gaze on me that had me covering my crotch with my carry-on in the front seat of his truck.

I pretended to pay attention to the tour Nyx was taking us on, but really I was glancing at his hands. Were veins sexy? Were they sexy in other places? Like his thick neck or his thick….

“Earth to Elijah.” He lifted his hand off the wheel to snap in my face. “Am I losing you? If you’re that tired just put the address in my phone and take a cat nap. I can always show you around another time if you’ll be here a while?”

I cleared my throat and moved my eyes to his face before I spoke. “My return date is open ended at the moment.”

“So you’ll be staying and giving Alaska a chance then?”

“It’s more out of avoidance for getting back on a plane, but you could take it that way if you’d like. I guess that is what I’ll tell Tessa.”

“Well summer in Alaska is pretty…” he paused.

“Pretty?”

“Well I guess just pretty, but that isn’t the right word. I’ve lived here all my life and I still get goosebumps over mountain views and lose my breath in a field of fireweed. It’s magical really and you’ve arrived just as everything is coming to life.”

“It’s a shame I’m not the outdoorsy sort. You make it sound appealing.”

“You forget it’s my job to convince people to live here.”

“Well you’ll have your work cut out with me.”

The main road out of Anchorage was congested. It’s a city with lots of life, stores, and plenty of Starbucks. Not exactly what I pictured when I thought of what it would be like here. Sure there were mountain ranges in the distance, but it’s not the desolate ice block I imagined. Summer in Anchorage is pleasantly cool.
